2023 MSI Young Scholars Announced
September 22, 2023
MSI is delighted to announce the 2023 class of MSI Young Scholars. This group of 33 early-career faculty with 2016 to 2019 PhDs will convene for a January 2nd – January 5th retreat in Snowbird, Utah. The group is a nice balance across geographies and areas of marketing.
The Young Scholars Program was developed to recognize excellence in marketing scholarship, develop a cohort across marketing disciplines, and strengthen ties between scholars and MSI. The 2023 MSI Young Scholars are among the most prominent early-career scholars in the world. MSI looks forward to working with them to advance our initiatives around the 2022-24 MSI Research Priorities, advance the agenda for the field, and to foster collaborations of our academic and industry members to solve the most pressing problems facing marketers today.
After a rigorous nomination and review process, we are pleased to announce the 2023 class of MSI Young Scholars.

The MSI Young Scholars Program, launched in 2001, provides a forum for these scholars to discuss their research, to encourage future collaboration, and to foster their interest in solving real-world marketing problems. MSI’s Young Scholars Program, now numbering over 400 alumni, and MSI’s Scholars programs both strengthen ties with marketing academics at important points in their careers, encouraging and cultivating rigorous research that has significant potential to influence and enhance marketing practice.
The call for applications to the 2023 Young Scholars Program drew 124 highly qualified applications from scholars across the world who received their PhD from 2016-2019. We are particularly grateful to our Young Scholars Committee – Sandy Jap, Rob Kozinets, Maura Scott, and Hema Yoganarasimhan – who devoted a great deal of time and expertise to select our class of Young Scholars. Alix Barasch and Stephan Seiler (2021 and 2019 Young Scholars) will act as Chief Esprit de Corps Officers for the event.
