How my research impacts research practice
I would describe myself as a behavioral scholar with a quantitative toolbox with a focus on understanding how consumers make financial decisions. I believe my skills and experience should be of particular interest to partners such as Bank of America, PNC, Google (Google Finance Team), Vanguard, and Wells Fargo.
How I have worked with businesses
First, I am an advisor at two fintech startups (Flourish FI, customer
engagement SaaS; Aura Finance, financial-wellness platform). Second, I already conduct surveys and experiments as an affiliate expert for the Analysis Group on legal cases (large retail, platforms and financial services clients). I have experience with academic/industry collaborations. For example, I will note the following partners: HelloWallet (financial advising platform; secondary data; published JCR and working paper), Debitize (start-up helping increase credit scores; field experiment; manuscript under review), a multinational life insurer (engaging young consumers with life insurance under NDA; field experiment; manuscript under review), BancoSol Bolivia
and Flourish (prize-link savings; secondary data; manuscript writing in progress), a Canadian symphony orchestra (machine learning for seat choice prediction; published in computer science), Talkuments (financial literacy for limited-English proficiency mortgage applicants; field experiment in design stages).
How I like to collaborate
I am open to a variety of models, particularly when it comes to financial services. I would be open to exploring potential research partnerships that can either turn into a data agreement or consulting (something discussed at the MSI Scholar event). I could do so individually or as a team. I am not particularly keen on workshops, but would consider speaking engagements. I am also open to working on expert-witness survey work as it pertains to trademark, confusion and damages.
